Promotion of Physical Activities
A National Action Plan on Physical Activity has been implemented to create awareness in the population at national level regarding the need and importance of undertaking physical activity in Mauritius. Consequently, aggressive campaign for the practice of physical activity is continuously being emphasized for a more physically active and healthy nation.
Along with the activities of the 22 Health Clubs, the physical activity programme will continuously offer Yoga, Tai Chi, Aerobics, Bollywood Aerobics, Zumba, Physical Exercise, and Karate sessions in the 77 additional centres throughout the island.
Physical Instructors have been employed on contract basis to support the physical activity sessions which are carried out throughout the island
A new health track at Souillac is in the pipeline by the end of this year, to encourage the inhabitants of the village as well as the surrounding villages/localities to undertake physical activity.
