Dr. The Honourable Kailesh Kumar Singh JAGUTPAL

Minister of Health and Wellness

Dr. The Honourable Kailesh Kumar Singh JAGUTPAL joined the Ministry of Health and Wellness in 1997 as a Medical and Health Officer up to 2004. From 2007 to 2019, he worked as Consultant, Psychiatrist at the Jawaharlal Nehru Hospital and was in charge of the Rehabilitation Alcoholic Ward at the Mahebourg Hospital till August 2019. Dr. K.K.S. Jagutpal was also Lecturer in Mental Health at the Open University of Mauritius.

He is a holder of a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) and a Doctor of Medicine (MD) in psychiatry.

Dr. K.K.S. Jagutpal has a rich experience working with Non-Governmental Organisations engaged in drug awareness campaigns. He was the Vice-President of the Mauritius Psychiatric Association from 2015 to 2016 and he also served as the ex-Chairperson of the Medical Council of Mauritius from February 2016 to May 2019.

As Minister of Health and Wellness, his portfolio comprises: Medical and Public Health Services, all matters concerning quality of life and population wellness, population planning, licensing of Private Health Institutions, the National AIDS Secretariat, the Trust Fund for Specialised Medical Care and the Mauritius Institute of Health.
