In essence Yoga is the joining of the Individual soul to the Universal soul.
In his address at the United Nations on 24 September, 2014, the Prime Minister of India, Shri Narendra Modi highlighted, Yoga is an invaluable gift of ancient Indian Tradition. It embodies unity of mind and body, thought and action, restraint and fulfillment, harmony between man and nature and a holistic approach to earth and well-being.
Yoga is not about exercise but to discover the sense of oneness with ourselves, the World and Nature. By changing our lifestyle and creating consciousness, it can help us to lead with climate change.
The purpose of International Day of yoga is to disseminate the intrinsic principle of Yoga. Yoga is a way of life. It helps to develop strong will and to control emotions. It helps to unleash our talent and potential. It expands the intellect, enables us to maintain a cheerful and optimistic outlook. It transforms us to have positive thought, positive perception. It keeps the body supple and in full vigour of health. In essence the practice of Yoga is recommended as it will contribute to attain higher level of development.
