Laying of Foundation Stone Ceremony Thursday 29 March, Petite Riviere AHC

The present Community Health Centre (CHC) of Petite Riviere is an old structure subject to leakage during heavy rainfall. The consultation room and reception area are not enough spacious.The Annual attendance of patients for year 2016 is already on high side to the order of 56,678.


For this reason provision has been made to convert the Community Health Centre (CHC) into an Area Health Centre (AHC) offering enhanced health service to inhabitants of the region.


In December, 2017 a contract for the amount of Rs 38,392,000 was awarded for the construction of a new storeyed, Ground Floor and 1st floor on a portion of land of an overall area of 2545 square meter. The overall built-up area of the new AHC will be 1360 square meter. The new AHC will extend a range of important Health Services:-

·         Diagnosis and treatment of diseases, injuries, pair, bleeding, swelling;

·         NCD Clinic, Diabetic Clinic, Oral Health Dental Services;

·         Antenatal Well Baby Clinic;

·         Vaccination, Care of Babies, Children,

·         School Health Programme Service;

·         Health Education, Nutrition, Healthy diet, Healthy living sensitization;

·         Family Planning, Maternity Services, Family Counseling to Adult and Young;

·         Dispensing of Medicine for cure of patients.


The project is expected to be completed in about 15 months. Provisionally, essential Health service is being provided at Social Welfare Day Centre of Petite Riviere. With completion of new AHC Project, vital Health Service will be extended within the reach of inhabitants of Petite Riviere and the surrounding location.


The laying of foundation Stone Ceremony was held on Thursday 29 March, 2018 at 15 30 hours in the presence of Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Energy and Public Utilities, Minister of Tourism, Minister of Health and Quality of Life, Minister of Social Integration and Economic Empowerment, Minister of Civil Service and Administrative Reforms, the Hon Jean Nel Alain Aliphon, Parliamentary Private Secretary (PPS). An important gathering of inhabitants of the region who attended the function were delighted with the launching of such an important project which will be beneficial for the upliftment of the locality.​​
