The approval of cabinet has been obtained to draw a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Artemis Hospital. A function was held on Friday 17th February 2017 at 3.00 P.M marked by the presence of Dr (Mrs) Devlina Chakravanty, CEO and Executive Director of Artemis Hospital and Dr the Honorable Anwar Husnoo, Minister of Health and Quality of Life.
According to the MOU, Artemis Hospital will collaborate to extend assistance to send specialists to our country to treat patients in specialised areas namely Neuro-Surgery and other fields. With the support of Artemis Hospital, Dr A.G Jeetoo Hospital will be upgraded with modern sophisticated equipment for the setting up of a Neuro- Surgery unit. Arrangements will be made for Medical Doctors, Specialists, Nursing staff to take part in professional training to be able to treat patients locally. Complex, urgent cases may even be treated on contingency measure at Artemis Hospital.
There will be fruitful cooperation for the setting up of bone marrow plant in Mauritius. It will be a landmark development to upgrade and enhance the capacity of our medical specialist staff to set up a dedicated facility to treat patients affected with haemophilia and leucemia.
Artemis Hospital has shown its readiness to send as regular exchange programmes, well qualified specialists to conduct continuous professional development system to ensure we meet international medical standard.
It is considered it will be a new era of mutual collaboration to take our Health Service to new heights of development.
